I love unexpected laugh out loud moments like this...He: "Have you ever worn a cravat?"
She: "No."
He: "They're deuced uncomfortable."
She: "And you think my corset and hairpins poking me all day are comfortable?"
He: "I have no idea. But I feel as though I can't breathe or swallow in this." He lifted the strip of linen, which looked quite limp. "Do you want to see how it feels?"
She: "Very well. You won't ask to borrow my corset later, will you?"
He: "Absolutely not."
She: "Good. I had an uncle who --"
Lady Lorraine may be one of my favorite heroines lately just because she's so not the lady of the ton that she is supposed to be. She chases her dog, climbs down a tree, throws herself at a man, talks about corsets with a man without blushing or apologizing... She's fun. A little bratty in the beginning of the book but she grew on me fairly quickly.

Turbo Twenty-Three
I expect certain things when I read a Stephanie Plum novel... I expect Stephanie to be awful at her job, I expect her to wreck or blow up at least one car, I expect her to love Morelli and be freaked out about commitment, I expect her to be in lust with Ranger and freaked out about that, I expect Granny to do and say some things that make me cringe, and I expect Lula to be Lula. Mostly, I expect to laugh and forget my life for a few hours. This is not great literature. This is fun, ridiculous, escapism. If you are expecting more than that, you will likely be disappointed. I see that several reviewers have been unhappy with the last few books in the series. The books are written using a pretty obvious equation and expecting it to change now, twenty books in, is likely an effort in futility.
If JE writes another fifty Plum novels exactly like this one, I'll read them all, they'll make me laugh, and I'll happily look forward to the next one.
Earls Just Want to Have Fun: A quirky and fun Regency romance (Covent Garden Cubs Book 1)
This is the 7th book I've read by Galen and I have loved each and every one of them more than the last. And this one! Brought me to tears! Galen writes both action and passion scenes equally well. I finished this book about 4 minutes ago and I'm off to start the next in the series right now.

This is the second book by Cissie Patterson, and the first in the Journey to Freedom series. I look forward to the second book in the series which should be out in a few months.

Lord and Lady Spy
I loved this book. I never saw the movie Mr & Mrs Smith so I don't know how closely it follows that particular storyline but I thought it was very well written. I loved both of the lead characters and I thought they were developed well. The action was exciting, the love scenes were steamy without being gross or sickeningly sweet.
When You Give a Duke a Diamond
I've not been a huge fan in the past of regency era novels. This book however has made me a fan. I read it in about 7 hours basically only putting it down a few times. It was. So. Good. It was good enough that I'm going to break my own rule of only reading books on Kindle Unlimited and I'm going to buy the second book in the series right now so I can get started. If it is half as good as When You Give a Duke a Diamond, it will be well worth the price.
