So I challenged myself to read 31 Christmas books in the month of December and I had to already own them or they had to be available on Kindle Unlimited. So, I found this book. Cute cover, cute title. I decided to give it a try.
Starting out I really like it. Though some parts are kind of redundant. Currently I'm about 25% through it and let me just say that if Cassie cheats on Jim with this rich dude I am going to be so pissed.
70% through the book and I really don't like Cassie. I am so over her. The book itself is good and well written but it makes it hard to read when you really despise the main character.
73% done and I HATE her.
74% She is a shallow, materialistic, bitch.
78% Seriously, she is doing nothing to redeem herself. If I weren't emotionally invested in what happens to Jim and the boys I would quit reading.
79% I hate her and the rich dude. A lot.
83% She made the right decision but I still hate her. Now I don't think she deserves Jim. Clearly he's too good for her.
87% Okay, I don't completely hate her anymore. But I still don't like her.
Finished. And I ended up liking Cassie again. But not as much as I liked Jim and the boys and Gaby. It was a really good book and even when I was super pissed at the main character, I still couldn't stop reading to find out what happened next. Being able to give a reader such an emotional response to the characters in a story is definitely the hallmark of a great author and I will definitely be checking out more of Matthews work.
