I loved this book. To be fair, I've enjoyed the previous 28 books in this series also, but this book hits a personal spot for me. My bff in a home birth midwife. Until 10 years ago I didn't realize such a thing existed. But over the past 10 years of watching her I have formed a great respect and love for these women. The support they offer and the bond they form with their mama's is amazing. There is not a lot of contemporary stuff out there about today's midwives. Sure you read about them in historical novels but even then it's usually in passing because the main character of the story is the lady having the baby. As soon as I realized that Caroline was writing about a contemporary midwife I was beyond excited. The story is very good and I hope that Alison will be seen in future books as some of the other ladies at River's End Ranch decide to follow Ellie's footsteps and have a home birth. I definitely recommend this book and not just because of the midwife stuff; it's great from start to finish. I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.
