If this first book by Cissie Patterson is any indication, we have great things to look forward to from this author! Patterson takes a few characters that were created by another author and weaves them effortlessly into her story. She enters the Brides of Beckham world seamlessly and gives us the story of the youngest of the Demon Horde Miller children. Set against the backdrop of the 1909 Alaska–Yukon–Pacific Exposition which took place in Seattle, Ida Mae travels to become a mail order bride to the son of the original Beckham matchmaker, Harriet Farmer. Of course, they have obstacles to overcome but ultimately this is a story of two people, hurting in different ways, who come to love and trust one another. I enjoyed the story a great deal, the writing is fluid and it is edited well. I definitely look forward to more from Cissie Patterson in the near future!
